Duterte Treats More Soldiers to Hong Kong as Reward for Bringing Peace in Marawi

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has treated 150 more soldiers in a 2 day Hong Kong vacation as a reward for their sacrifices in Marawi city. This is the fourth batch of Marawi soldiers who were given a vacation abroad so Philippine soldiers' morale is very good.

According to GMA News, the latest batch of soldiers left in the 4th week of February and is the fourth batch of soldiers that were treated for a vacation abroad. Lieutenant Colonel Louie Villanueva said everything was paid for including plane tickets, hotel, and even allowance.

It can be remembered that Duterte earlier promised that he will send our Philippine soldiers to a vacation abroad once the fight against Marawi is over. The war was against Maute-ISIS terrorists which ended in 2017.

Some of the soldiers who were with the 4th batch of soldiers treated abroad was Lieutenant Colonel Jon Goyena. He said he was one of the soldiers deployed on the front lines so he was really happy and honored to be given a gift from our President.

The first batch of soldiers treated by President Duterte was given an opportunity to visit Japan while the 2nd, 3rd and 4th went to Hong Kong. Villanueva says the soldiers' morale is very high now since the war has ended and after the President has given the vacation that he promised to our beloved soldiers.

More than 1,000  lost their lives in the battle in Marawi which includes soldiers, civilians, and Maute-ISIS fighters but in return, it has helped many civilians, especially children, regain peace and be able to start a new life.
