Pinoy OFW News: Health Insurance Program for OFWs |
The new health insurance program is called Bayani Family Care Program and will provide health care for emergency and hospitalization cases for bacterial and viral illnesses and treatment as a result of injuries from accidents. According to PTV News, it was just launced last Wednesday.
This new program was initiated by the partnership of PhilCare, UK company Jardine Lloyd Thompson and Madanes Group of Israel. According to PhilCare CEO Jaeger Tangco, only 4% of Filipinos have health insurance and more than half of OFW's monthly remittance goes to medical expenses.
With this new program, OFWs will not have a peace of mind knowing that they have affordable health insurance program that can help them in case of emergencies. Madanes Group President and CEO Madanes said the health insurance program also covers for the OFW's children.
Tangco also said it is saddening that all the dream of an OFW can go down due to an unexpected medical bill. And because of that, their company came up with an affordable health insurance program that specifically caters to the needs of OFWs.
The new health insurance program offers affordable rates that start at only 4,350 Php per year per person. This covers emergency and scheduled room care and confinement. In addition, it also comes with hospitalization benefit for injury treatment and bacterial illnesses in over 500 PhilCare accredited medical facilities all over the Philippines. Persons who avail the program also get an unlimited outpatient medical consultation to endocrinologists, pediatricians, cardiologist and more.
This means the new health program is designed not only to assist the OFW's children but also their elders. Covering insurance for different illness including sickness related to the heart and the organs.
