South Korea Makes Visa Application Easier for Filipinos

Filipinos dreaming of visiting South Korea to experience the world of K-pop and K-dramas can now rejoice as South Korea has relaxed their visa requirements. South Korean ambassador Han Dongman said they are making the application process simpler to encourage more Filipinos to visit their country, especially for Philippines media, government workers and professionals.

According to reports, South Korea is aiming to increase Filipino tourists visiting their country this year to 2 million by making it easier for Pinoys to apply for a visa. Actually, since last May 2018, the embassy already allows issuance of 5 to 10-year multiple-entry visas, ease the requirements of employees from selected top companies, and students. And this year, the embassy announced they are even broadening the eligibility requirements of the multiple-entry visa.

Based on reports, some Filipinos may even just submit a proof of their employment and they can receive a multiple-entry visa.

Requirements to Apply for a Korean Visa

If you check the official website of the Korean embassy, there are a different set of requirements for employees, students and even housewives. And if you are a BPI or BDO cardholder, you may be eligible to get a multiple-entry visa and may be exempted from submitting a bank certificate and ITR. However, this is only valid until December 2019 so if you are planning to get a multiple-entry visa, now is the right time.

When you're ready to submit your application, make sure you only transact with designated travel agencies of South Korea.

South Korea Also Looking for More Filipino Scholars

Aside from making their visa application easier, South Korea doubles the number of students for scholarship in Korea. They encourage the "people-to-people-exchange" not just for Filipino tourists but also for students. They know many Filipinos are talented and qualified so they are opening their scholarships to university students.
